Dr. Kofman founded Stella Academy, a math enrichment center for future scientists and engineers, in 2006 after decades of applying mathematics as a scientist and six years teaching in Chicago area public schools. Dr. Kofman knows firsthand the math abilities that the successful scientist and engineer must possess, and what mathematical education is necessary to develop those abilities.
Dr. Kofman earned her B.S. and M.S. in Pedagogy of Physics from Moscow State Educational University (former USSR), her Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from Weizmann Institute of Sciences (Rehovot, Israel), and a second MS in Secondary Education from DePaul University (Chicago, USA). Before turning to pedagogy, Dr. Kofman was a researcher in Physical Chemistry with elements of Molecular Biology.
